me we

Jake Jacob

Where it came from

Mental wellbeing has been a passion of mine for over a decade, most recently as a research student in positive mental health (PMH) at La Trobe University and RMIT. me we is built on a model I developed from that postgraduate research between 2017 and 2022, extended independently during the last quarter of 2025 and the first half of 2026.

The resulting nine interdependent dimensions describe the capacity a person has available, and how they strengthen or deplete one another over time. The model draws on three decades of scientific research in positive psychology, occupational health, and how personal resources are gained, kept and lost.

It is a model, not a measurement. It describes tendencies, not certainties, and it makes no claim to predict anything about you.

The name

me we is short for Mental Wealth. It also relates to what the model is about: the individual (the ‘me’) and the people around them (the ‘we’).

A different way to talk about mental health

Public conversation has tended to tie mental health to illness (the pathogenic model). Ask most people what it means and they will describe something going wrong.

me we takes the other view. Mental Wealth is a positive resource for life, something that can be understood, built, strengthened and sustained (the salutogenic model). Most of what decides how you are today is not pathology. It is capacity, and capacity moves from day to day, hour to hour, and even moment to moment.

The idea

Most days you do not have the same amount to give. Capacity-aware living means noticing what is actually available in the present moment and choosing something that fits it, rather than working to a plan made on a different day and wondering why it is either too easy or too hard.

Small things that fit compound. Big things that do not fit take more than they give back.

The choice is yours

me we gives you options and a recommendation, based on the science and the capacity you have right now: ease off, a small step, a stretch, or full power. Each one comes with what it does for your capacity and what to watch for.

The recommendation is just that, a recommendation. You decide which one you take, and none of them is the wrong answer.

What me we is not

It is not a chatbot, a therapist or a crisis service. It does not diagnose, label or treat anything, and it does not score you, rank you, create streaks, or compare you with anyone.

If you need more than this

me we is a positive mental health app not a crisis service. If you want to talk to someone about mental health, the people on the resources page under More are there for exactly that, day or night. You do not need a reason.
